What is Lip Blush?

Lip blush is a professional cosmetic and aesthetic procedure that uses a machine similar to a tattoo machine to implant colour pigment into the epidermis of the lips, resulting in fuller and more defined and youthful looking lips.

Who is Lip Blush for?

The best candidates for semi-permanent lip blush are individuals with naturally faint lip color, discoloration around the lips, uneven lips, or anyone who wants to save time.

How Long does the Procedure Take?

The whole procedure takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. You will require a patch test that should be done at least 24 hours prior to your procedure. Depending on retention, the top up session will be shorter.

How Long Does Lip Blush Take to Heal?

The lips will take 5 to 10 days to heal superficially. However, they are not truly healed until 4 to 6 weeks. Once they are fully healed, your skin will have digested the pigment fully and your lips will be closer to the colour you chose initially. At your touch up, any minor adjustments can be made.

To limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service, pre-care instructions must be strictly followed.

Excessive bleeding and sensitivity during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.

  • DO NOT work out the day of the procedure.

  • DO NOT tan or have sunburned face.

  • DO NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24hrs before procedure.

  • NO alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure.

  • NO waxing or tinting 3 days before.

  • Botox should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure.

  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle

How do you Choose the Shade?

Each shade is customized to match your lip color mixed with a shade of your favourite color. As a professional makeup artist, we work with you to create your perfect custom shade. It's also suitable for all skin tones.

Can Dark Lips be Lightened?

Absolutely! Dark lips may be color corrected, but may take several touchups to get the desired results.

Is it Painful?

A topical numbing cream is applied before and during the whole procedure. Though the sensation of the lip blush procedure is minimal, all clients respond differently. Some will feel a stronger sensation than others.

Can I Eat After?

You are advised to avoid spicy food for up to 48 hours after the procedure as your lips are extra sensitive and you will experience a burning sensation.

Is Lip Blush the same as Lip Filler?

Lip blush is not to be mistaken with lip filler, however it can be a very effective in making the lips ‘appear’ fuller and more defined. Lip filler involves injecting Collagen or Hyaluronic acid into the lips to increase volume and size. Lip Blush has a similar effect to overdrawn lips using lipstick but doesn’t smudge or come off throughout the course of the day and still has a natural effect as is not as pigmented as some lipsticks.

Both lip blush and lip filler are performed once the lips have been numbed with anesthetic so are not considered to be painful, however you may experience soreness, bruising and throbbing and therefore are similar in that respect.

Can I get Lip Blush if I am Pregnant or Nursing?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

How Old do I have to be to get Semi-Perminant tattoos?

Can I get Lip Blush if I'm Prone to Cold Sores?

If you are prone to cold sores, lip blush can cause outbreaks. We ask that our clients take their prescribed anti-viral medication a few days prior to their appointment and after the procedure to prevent that. Consult with your doctor first. If you have an outbreak, or any other type of scratch/acne we ask that you reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
